Chinmaya Vidyalaya LogoChinmaya Mission Logo

Chinmaya Mission's emblem comprises a lamp of knowledge with 'hamsa', a celestial bird of wisdom, at its crown, denoting both the Mission's spiritual and social service to the world.

The oil lamp symbolizes the ethical life needed to light the flame of knowledge within. When a spiritual seeker imbibes and lives a righteous life of noble values, he becomes fit to develop his discriminative faculty to distinguish the permanent Reality from the impermanent world - this is symbolized by 'hamsa'.

The Vidyalaya Logo

Our school logo is unique and different from the mission logo with a handle at the bottom. The story behind the design is really interesting. When the school approached the CBSE board for its recognition with the mission logo, they required a letter from the Central Chinmaya Mission Trust (CCMT) stating that the school was a part of the mission and financially supported by CCMT. Since we are a school affiliated to CCMT and not funded by the mission, we needed a different logo. Pujya Gurudev was there in our school at that time and we were blessed to have His Holiness himself design the logo with a handle at the bottom of the mission logo indicating that our school is affiliated to CCMT.

The Chinmaya Vidyalaya has in its logo, the lamp and 'hamsa'. Under the light of the Scriptures (represented by the lamp) the discriminative power of the human intellect is to be developed (represented by the 'hamsa'). Our scriptures describe 'hamsa' as a bird with the ability to separate milk from water from a mixture of both. Likewise, all students should sincerely strive to acquire wisdom to retain only noble virtues and shed bad qualities, with the blessings of God Almighty.

The words at the bottom "Keep Smiling" denote the following

"Be brave and courageous always; face every experience in life with a smile on your face. In other words, be balanced in life under all circumstances - joy or sorrow, success or failure, honour or dishonour, prosperity or adversity. This calmness of the mind expresses itself in a smile."
