Assessments & Sample Reports

Parents and the school are equal partners in guiding and supporting our students. Our aim is to ensure that parents are kept fully informed, regarding all aspects of a student's progress.

Each term, the school holds a set of tests and a formal term-end examination. The results of these assessments are formally communicated to parents through a report card and are taken up for discussion during parent-teacher meetings. At the same time, staff and students meet to review the results and progress and to set targets to be met in the coming term.

Parents also receive information on each student's progress in areas related to discipline, health, social interaction and attitude. The report card and remarks give a very clear picture of each student and allow them to see where improvements can be made.

We also monitor each student's progress throughout his or her entire career at school. This allows us to quickly see if a student's progress changes term to term or year by year. In doing so, we are able to offer every student praise where there is improvement and support where there is no improvement.

In addition to these formal systems, parents are kept informed of any particular issues regarding a student. We recognize that early and united approach yield best results and so we always involve parents as soon as any student's behaviour prompts our concern.

ASSET (Standards 3 to 10)

Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing.(ASSET)

It is a scientifically designed, skill-based assessment test. Rather than testing rote learning, through multiple-choice questioning, it focuses on measuring how well SKILLS and CONCEPTS underlying the standard syllabus have been learnt by a student. The test result in each subject provides information about the strengths and weaknesses of the individual student and also the entire class.

The test generates detailed reports for students indicative of their progress and topics that require attention and improvement. The teachers receive a special report which indicates the class performance as compared to the other divisions as well as with other schools at the national level. The reports are accompanied by an instructional supplement, suggesting the future course of action for both students and teachers.

Detailed Assessment (Standards 3 to 10)

Detailed Assessment is a topic wise testing tool based on the school curriculum. It presents an immediate detailed feedback on the performance of students. As the test is customized according to the syllabus and the text books used in class, it is listed as one of the formative assessments of CCE. This system of assessment ensures comprehensive learning and remedial support for the learning gaps observed among students.

The school has embraced this testing tool as an integral part of its assessment techniques as the externally set question papers create a simulated environment for board exams. The feedback enables teachers to plan for remedial measures. Parents too get a peek into the systematic progress of their children in each topic of the subject from the periodic report they get online.

For Student

  • These set of eight tests, which have to be taken during one academic year, are very interesting, higher-order, thinking-type questions that have been customised to the curriculum followed in our school.

For Parent

  • The reports of Detailed Assessment point out common misconceptions of students in particular topics and also suggest a set of remedial measures.

Mindspark (Standards 3 to 9)

  • Mindspark is based on adaptive logic, making it customized for each and every child.
  • Mindspark acts as an assistant teacher, helping individual students in their specific areas of concerns.
  • It also clarifies students' doubts working on the system through interactive tools and games.

For Student

  • This learning system has been created keeping the need of the students to learn at their own pace.
  • Mindspark is also unique in that students can work on it in school, but can also do it as homework assigned by the school. A student can login from anywhere for up to 90 minutes a day.
  • Built on adaptive logic, Mindspark helps a student learn by posing questions to him or her. Depending on how a student answers a particular question, the system serves up the next problem. This system also brings a student to a lower level and addresses the misconception at the root.
  • Mindspark also offers different remedial tips, interactive activities and even games specific to the problem a student might be facing.

For Parent

  • Parents will get report that will help them monitor their child's progress on a regular basis. This will help them understand the specific problems their child faces with respect to the portion covered in class.
  • Mindspark helps in improving scores of the child by reinforcing the concepts being taught and tested in school, as part of the school programme.

Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE for Standards 1 to 10)

We follow CCE method to assess the students of standards 6 to 10. It consists of Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment tests. The students are given grades instead of marks and ranks to avoid the act of comparing marks among students.

Formative Assessment (FA - 40 marks)

As per this method, four FA (A) tests (Activity & Projects) are conducted and four FA(B) tests (Pen & Paper tests) are conducted. FA(A) tests are conducted to test the child's cognitive skills and FA(B) tests are conducted to assess student's development in all areas of curricular learning such as knowledge, understanding, comprehension, application, analysis, evaluation and creativity. Best two scores in FA(A) (out of 20) and FA(B) (out of 20) are taken for reporting purpose.

Summative Assessment (SA - 60 marks)

SA test is conducted at the end of each term. It is an individual blueprint-based test. It is formal and certifies the achievement of learner at the end of each term.


FA and SA test marks are converted to the corresponding grades and are entered in the teacher's mark register and grade register. The corresponding grades are carried over to the Student Cumulative Record.

Cyclic Tests (Standards 10 and 12)

Standards 10 and 12 have their weekly tests for all subjects in a regular schedule from Monday to Friday followed by remedial classes every Saturday afternoon. It has been highly effective in getting our students well prepared for their public exam.


Reporting is a crucial way of formally communicating information about the progress of students to parents and provides a sound basis to set targets. We take these reports very seriously and act upon the concerns raised and recognise students having an exceptional attitude to learning for excellence.

Each student receives a grade for attainment as well as grades for his / her attitude to learning in and beyond the class room. The report also contains detailed comments on the progress in that phase of term. The comment also includes implicit and explicit reference to habits and advice on how he / she can improve. Each term, parents receive a feedback on their children's progress. Parents are welcome to discuss the progress of their children with the class teacher by getting an appointment at any time during the term.
