Arts & Crafts

Visual as well as performing arts have become an essential part of our co-curriculum. We introduce the training in these art forms when students enter first standard. We have fixed teaching hours for these arts, as music and dance have a positive influence on the development of children's mental abilities and support them in all other forms of learning. Each student chooses any one of the following arts:

  • Vocal (Carnatic)
  • Bharathanatyam
  • Violin
  • Veena
  • Miruthangam

As we 'Catch them Young', our students get rigorous training in basic music competence till they complete standard nine. Fine arts curriculum in our campus has been designed not just for recreation but for improving cognitive skills, language, emotional, social and physical development.

We believe "fine arts are for education as well as entertainment". We make sincere efforts to make our training initiatives in visual and performing arts a grand success.

Successful implementation of this unique programme has helped our students to imbibe the following qualities:

  • Self-confidence
  • Self-expression
  • Knowledge of emotions
  • Group process
  • Leadership skills
  • Empathy
  • Self-regulation
  • Social competence
  • Social play or socio-dramatic play

Without limiting ourselves with education alone we go a step further with our performance-oriented approach as students graduate to higher levels. We encourage their participation in stage shows, competitions, etc. As a part of this activity, we are having the following practices in our campus:

  • A variety show to exhibit the musical talents of our students is a unique feature of our culturals on School Day and the most awaited fiesta for our parents and guests.
  • A regular show by our juvenile vocalists at Chokkar Kovil at every Masi Maham festival.
